How we operate

We make assessment hassle-free with support and guidance every step of the way for apprentices, training providers and employers.
When an employer selects us as their EPAO, a contract is signed with the approved training provider.

 We assign an account manager to provide information from Gateway and on boarding through to the end point assessment. This involves information around the booking process, the preparation of the apprentice and the assessment process.

Each apprentice has an individual assessment planning meeting with their employer and training provider present to help support the apprentice in to the assessment journey.

The training provider is issued with detailed written feedback for each of the assessment components for every assessment completed within five working days of the assessment being taken.

Gateway

We work closely with stakeholders to streamline the assessment process, ensuring apprenticeship success and meaningful skill development.

Any pre-EPA criteria required by the standard is checked before agreeing or approving the apprentice is ready for assessment.

Gateway takes place before an EPA can start. During this phase, independent EPA organisations (known as EPAOs) conduct assessments based on the apprenticeship standard’s assessment plan. Each EPAO must be listed on the apprentice register and assessment register (APAR)

Planning Meeting and End Point Assessment

Planning meeting
A 30-minute meeting with the apprentice, employer and training provider to schedule each of the assessments. Additionally to explain the requirements and expectations of the assessment process.

EPA 
End-point assessment (EPA) tests the knowledge, skills and behaviours that an apprentice has gained during their training. Unique to each standard, EPA demonstrates the competence of an apprentice in their role. 

We continue with support and updates to the apprentice and training provider throughout the entire assessment and if any resits are required, to ensure the process remains hassle-free to encourage lifelong learning.

  1. The employer, with support from the training provider, selects the EPAO for the particular standard and signs a contract.
  2. The training provider registers the apprentice with the EPAO, giving an expected date for EPA.
  3. The apprentice completes the training following the time and criteria aligned to the standard. Then the Gateway process is completed and arrangements are made via the planning meeting for the EPA.
Apprent Assess will fully support and guide the apprentice to make sure they are well prepared for EPA.
The EPA process is carried out by one of our experienced and qualified assessors.
Apprent Assess carries out all the necessary checks and contacts the training provider and apprentice with their results and obtains their certificate from the ESFA.

Feedback Provided

Each apprentice receives comprehensive written performance feedback and their grade promptly, typically within five working days of assessment. In the event of a failed assessment, detailed feedback is given against the assessment criteria to aid in preparation for a resit. Furthermore, we provide training providers with regular feedback reports to enhance their delivery, pinpointing areas for improvement and offering strategic insights. This approach ensures apprentices are well-prepared, increasing their likelihood of passing on their initial attempt.

The Employer EPA handbook includes comprehensive resources for apprentices, detailing the training provider onboarding session. It also offers practice assessments to aid the preparation for assessment. Guidance for apprentices on EPA preparation is provided, ensuring they have the necessary tools and knowledge. Additionally, there are clear instructions on fair access and adjustments, ensuring an equitable process for all participants. If necessary, the instructions also cover resits and retakes, providing a clear pathway for apprentices to succeed.
